ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM
This role will report to finance but work on a matrix framework with the Exams business managers involved in the delivery of the contract. Exams is part of our English Strategic Business Unit, under which the BC Tests work stream operates. British Council Tests is one of the three business streams within Exams, alongside IELTS (jointly owned with Cambridge English and IDP Australia) and Distribution services (facilitating exams delivery on behalf of 100 plus UK awarding bodies and universities).
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY
The purpose of the Finance Manger role in the context of a large Exams contract, is to oversee and manage financial systems, processes and budget of the project (SGD 6.8M in value). The role will also support the project by carrying out any business-related operational areas, linked with the effective running of the contract, working closely with the Global Assessment Team and will oversee the management of sub-contractors, coordination with suppliers and members of the British Council team contributing in the delivery.
WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT IT
You will act as the main point of contact for the Project Manager and other regional/global stakeholders for all queries relating to the project finances, planning and forecasting and commercial information. The post holder will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the project is managed in a way that maximise value for money, compliance with British Council internal policy, external client and audit requirements.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You should financial qualification or equivalent with proven experience working on large and complex development projects. You should be capable to manage partners and sub- contractors in delivering contract objectives and activities. High level of stakeholders and project management are essential for this role.
