Lesson Overview

Learn and Explore - Composition Skills 3

Looking at one text across the week in depth, topics and themes are further exploited by additional fiction and non-fiction texts.

Over the week, students will read in depth a piece of age appropriate literature to inspire debate, analysis and of course, practice of various PSLE text types, including non-narrative forms.

During each 4 hour lesson, learners will analyse language, draft and edit their own pieces with the support of the teacher. 8 different texts will be produced over 4 days. In the final lesson, the teacher will give individual feedback that will allow students to successfully write final versions. These will be added to their portfolio for later reference.

Learn and Explore - Comprehension Skills 3

Students will practice question types seen in the PSLE and in Secondary. They will be taught how to zoom in to consider the author’s language usage and zoom out to review the wider themes.

Time will be spent at the end of each lesson critically reviewing the day’s reading and discussing the various topical themes. Students will reflect on their what they have learned, how their opinions may have changed and consider what they want to understand more about!

Speaking with Confidence (Primary 5)

This course aims to:

  • Raise awareness of what goes into successful presentations and provide practice in a supportive, constructive and fun environment.
  • Build confidence in developing and expressing ideas to a wider group.
