How are your courses aligned to the MOE?
Our curriculum is developed by our Head of Secondary alongside a team of experienced Secondary teachers. They map the content of our courses to the most recent ‘O’ Level requirements, through a detailed analysis of past papers and examiner’s reports.
How will this course help my child in their exams?
Drawing on our many years teaching Secondary students in Singapore, our team of experienced ‘O’ Level teachers provide a full overview of the ‘O’ Level exam, developing key strategies and skills needed to succeed in the exam.
How can I help my child with their English study?
‘O’ Level year is stressful for the whole family and helping your child organise themselves can help with this – keep a diary of important dates and factor in times for revision and relaxation periods. Also, you can ask them informally about the topics they are studying in class – what they found interesting, what they didn’t quite understand. This regular discussion keeps the pressure of and helps cement world knowledge learned in class. This helps them understand texts on a range of topics and express their ideas in writing and speaking.
What is unique about studying with the British Council?
- High calibre teachers: Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced English language teachers. In addition, all teachers are trained in current MOE guidelines in order to support students preparing for the ‘O’ Levels.
- A course dedicated to Singaporean needs: This course is designed to teach the areas your child struggles with, while providing key exam strategies to ensure success in the ‘O’ Levels.
- Close home-school links: You will receive a welcome email from the teacher in addition to parent meetings and progress reports. We encourage you to communicate regularly with the teacher through these channels.
- An international environment: Students meet teachers and staff from across the world, exposing them to different values and opinions, broadening their mind. Not only a useful tool at school, this will prepare them for the world of further study and work, where global communication is essential.
How does this course work with your courses at Secondary 1, 2 and 3?
Our ‘O’ Level preparation course consolidates the comprehension and composition skills covered in Secondary 1 to 3 as well as building on the broad general knowledge established in these courses. Unlike those courses this course is an exam course, with a greater emphasis on in class exam practice and reflection.
