Starting from 1 July 2022, British Council will no longer offer IELTS on Paper at our public IELTS test centres in Singapore but will move to a 100% IELTS on Computer offer. This change forms part of our drive to improve test-taker experience in Singapore through technology solutions.

The test format, question types, time allocated to each test part, content and marking are exactly the same for both IELTS on Computer and IELTS on Paper tests. The only difference is that with the IELTS on Computer test, you will complete the Reading, Listening, and Writing components of the test using a computer in our test centre. The Speaking component remains the same and is a video-call interview with an examiner using video-calling technology to ensure face-to-face human conversation.

As IELTS on Computer is conducted for smaller groups of a maximum of 18 people, many test takers find the test day experience to be more personalised, with a quicker registration process and guaranteed same-day speaking test, as well as faster test results (3 to 5 days after the test).

We will continue to offer on-demand IELTS on Paper test sessions for our partner schools/colleges and, on request, for test takers with special access needs.
