What is ‘Play Your Part’?

In 2016, we will be using the power of Shakespeare to support work in education from our charity partner: Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).

Every child deserves an education - it is a direct route out of poverty. That’s why last year alone we helped nearly 810,000 children and adults to benefit from quality education services – enough to fill the modern day Globe Theatre 520 times!

But millions of children are still missing out because of a lack of properly trained teachers, or by being excluded from classrooms simply because of who they are. With your support we can ensure more children get the education they deserve, train more teachers and implement new technologies to improve learning in classrooms across the world.

So share your favourite Shakespeare moment, whether it's a play, line, film or performance and help give children the education they deserve by donating today.

#PlayYourPart and donate to VSO to give children a brighter future.

How to join?

Do you have a favourite Shakespeare moment? It could be your most-loved play, a character who resonates with you, a villain you love to hate, a soliloquy that stirs your soul or fond memories of seeing a play in performance or studying it at school.

Share your favourite moment with the world through Play Your Part, our social media campaign, and see your picks side-to-side with celebrities, including Hugh Bonneville, star of Downton Abbey as you can see above.

1. Please record a video with your phone’s camera, using the following script as a guide:

I’m name from job title, town/country. My favourite Shakespeare moment is quote/scene/speech/performance memory because it represents/reminds me of/makes me feel, etc

2. And then share it on social media with a hashtag, #PlayYourPart to support the education work of VSO: http://ow.ly/WKsYO

We'd like you to share anything - from your favourite line, to a quote, to a word, to a specific production - and in doing so use the hashtag #PlayYourPart

You can watch many #PlayYourPart videos from the world on Youtube if you search 'Play Your Part' and it's your turn!
