About this course

Explore and apply creative thinking tools in early childhood teaching and learning.

Course objectives

  • Understand the importance of creative thinking in improving teaching and learning practice and designing creative learning environments
  • Understand the importance of acting as supporters, coaches, facilitators and models of creative thinking to young children
  • Be introduced to and equipped with a range of resources, practical tools and strategies to encourage the development of creative thinking in young children
  • Incorporate and apply emerging creative thinking tools and techniques into teaching and learning practices in the early childhood classroom.

  • The definition and importance of creative thinking in the early childhood classroom
  • Emerging and practical creative thinking tools and techniques that are relevant and appropriate for educators in the early childhood sector to empower them to improve teaching and learning practice e.g De Bono’s lateral thinking, design thinking, Osborne-Parnes Creative Problem Solving Process, SCAMPER
  • Explore and apply creative thinking tools in early childhood teaching and learning
  • How to develop an action plan to design creative programmes, effective teaching and learning practices, and the learning environment in the early childhood classroom.

How to register

Participants should register by filling the application form available at One@ECDA. Please contact us for more details. Participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that participants must be ECDA-certified pre-school educators. Names of participants must be submitted in full and will be used for printing of their certificates, to be awarded to them upon complete attendance of the course.


  • Course fee per participant: S$374.50/pax (only for ECDA-certified participants)
  • Funding for this course is available under the SkillsConnect for Singapore Citizens (SCs) and Permanent Residents (PRs). Centres must have a SkillsConnect account. Please login to SkillsConnect to apply for funding.
  • A subsidy of 80% of the course fees (without GST) is available for ECDA-certified educators who are non-Singapore Citizens and non-Permanent Residents, and can be claimed upon successful completion of the course.

Terms and conditions: 

  • The course is highly subsidised and as such, withdrawals will NOT be allowed once selection is confirmed.
  • Any participant who is unable to attend the course at the last minute would need to provide a replacement who is ECDA-certified.
  • In the event a participant does not turn up for the course and there is no valid reason given, there will not be any refund of fees.
  • For a participant with a valid reason, documentary proof (e.g. medical certificate) must be submitted.
