About this course

These courses are suitable for students currently studying in Kindergarten 1 to 2 (5 to 6 years old). We have one course available for this age group, Speech and Drama.

This is a theme based course that uses rhymes, poems, songs, storybooks, discussions and drama activities to encourage an enjoyment of communicating in English.


  • Develop confidence and creativity through drama, songs and storytelling activities
  • Improve concentration through engaging activities that improve comprehension
  • Broaden socialisation skills by developing an understanding of sharing, listening to others and taking turns
  • Develop communication skills includingthe use of body language and facial expressions

Learning outcomes

Speech and drama

The Speech and Drama course at the British Council aims to build confidence in a range of communicative activities designed to develop oral skills and nurture imagination and resourcefulness. The course also aims to help develop social skills, concentration, co-ordination, and spatial awareness. In each lesson your child’s teacher will use movement, poetry, songs, stories, discussions and drama activities to help facilitate these aims.

Learning outcomes:

  • Develop gross motor skills through drama, songs and games
  • Improve concentration through kinesiology exercise and commands
  • Develop confidence to express ideas through discussions, storytelling and drama
  • Develop social skills and creative thinking through communication games
  • Develop oral language skills through stories, poetry, discussions and songs
  • Explore thematic language and develop comprehension skills by taking part in interactive storytelling and discussions
