Transformational entrepreneurship: a novel approach to sustainable socio-economic development
featuring Prof. Gideon Maas, Executive Director, International Centre for Transformational Entrepreneurship, Coventry University
About the lecture
In today’s fast-changing global environment, do the right capacities, capabilities, ecosystems and policies exist to support countries in building and maintaining future progressive socio-economic landscapes? There are a plethora of initiatives to support entrepreneurs, but are these in line with building future successful societies? Will graduate entrepreneurs be able to support entrepreneurship, innovation and employability within regions?
In this lecture, Prof. Gideon Maas suggests that a new transformational approach may be required to support the development of sustainable entrepreneurship – a systemic process that is more heuristic and holistic in nature, one that accommodates both individualistic and societal approaches in the promotion of entrepreneurship.
Prof. Maas discusses how entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems have the potential to nurture and support socio-economic development within different sectors. He argues that without transformational entrepreneurship, the potential for socio-economic development will remain limited and will only benefit a minority of individuals, businesses, and nations.
