Our Curriculum

Primary at the British Council is a three stage, 6 year programme designed to support your child on the pathway to a successful PSLE. Our courses supplement learning in local schools and target areas that we know Singaporean students find most challenging. We believe that having greater world knowledge gives our students an edge in school oral, comprehension and composition activities.

Students face varying challenges as Primary school progresses. We adjust our focus appropriately at every stage. In Lower Primary, we instill confidence. Our new Upper Primary curriculum focuses on comprehension strategies, composition techniques, challenging tasks, PSLE-style exam practice and quality feedback. Finally, students get dedicated PSLE practice in Primary 6.

We challenge our students to think deeply and critically about themes and their own performance. We believe that this leads to better grades.

Our Teachers

As world leaders in English language education, the British Council supports teachers to continuously develop, keeping up-to-date with current educational research both internationally and locally. They use a range of interactive teaching techniques to engage students in lessons and motivate them to study. In addition, our teachers provide regular personalised feedback to students to ensure they are making progress.

Your Goal

Over 6 years, your child will grow in confidence and acquire a breadth of understanding on topics they can apply in school work that will set them apart from their peers.

Primary courses at the British Council are the perfect preparation for a successful PSLE and entry into Secondary school.
