Getting started with your Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Assessment is quick and simple. Below is everything you need to know before you book.

Before You Book

To make sure your booking goes smoothly:

  • You must be aged 16 or above to register.
  • Have a valid photo ID (NRIC for Singapore citizens/PRs; passport or FIN for foreigners).
  • Bring the same ID on your test day — physical documents only (digital IDs aren’t accepted).
  • Ensure you have a basic understanding of English — you should be comfortable writing your name and simple words.
  • Don’t make duplicate bookings for the same test — complete one package before booking another.

The earliest available test date is usually 7 days after booking.

Useful Tips Before You Register

  • Set up your Singpass account before test day — you’ll use it to check in.
  • If you plan to use SkillsFuture Credits, check your balance on MySkillsFuture.gov.sg first — credits can only be applied during booking, and can’t be claimed after payment.
  • Download and read the Candidate Guide — it explains the test format and question types so you know what to expect.
  • Use the step-by-step Registration Guide (available in English, Mandarin, Malay or Tamil) if you need help signing up.

After You Book

Once you’ve completed your booking you’ll receive a confirmation email with your test start time and venue details.
