IMD took place on 18 May 2020. The theme for 2020 was Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion.
To mark IMD2020, ICOM UK and the British Council developed a programme of events and activities that engage museum workers and audiences in a conversation about diversity and inclusion post-COVID-19.
Think Pieces: ICOM and British Council invited museums leaders from around the world to contribute short reflections or provocations aimed at inspiring new thinking and stimulating action.
The CEO of the National Gallery Singapore, Siak Ching Chong, contributed a piece on Inclusivity in the Singapore Museum sector, reminding us that “As we keep innovating to take our collections to diverse audiences, we must ensure that the art experience is not compromised, and that no one is left behind."
